Welcome to Kilmaurs Labrador Retrievers

Kilmaurs is a small kennel located just outside of Gananoque, Ontario – the Canadian Gateway to the beautiful Thousand Islands. This very central location is 2½ hours from Toronto and Montreal, 1½ hours from Ottawa, 1 hour north of Watertown, and 2½ hours north of Syracuse, New York.

SueSituated on 18 acres of fields, woods and wetlands, it’s a small slice of Labrador heaven! Close proximity to the St. Lawrence River guarantees flocks of geese and ducks flying over daily as they raid nearby fields for corn and grass, and nest in our beaver pond. Besides “romps on the farm” the dogs swim in Lake Ontario several times a week, weather permitting. All in all, life is good.

My first Lab, Ares, was purchased in 2004 and life changed for the better from the minute he arrived home. Labradors are wonderful companions and friends and I can't imagine being without one. Ares was followed by Rustle in 2006 and as the “herd” expanded, so did the fun. There is nothing that says love like a Labrador Retriever!

But it’s not all fun – we do get serious sometimes and go to dog shows. My dogs are handled in the United States by Kathy Mines who has done a truly outstanding job with them. In Canada, my dogs are currently being shown by Doug McIntyre (East Coast), Jan Cameron and myself (Quebec and Ontario). I am very fortunate to be working with such a talented team and thank all of them for their contributions to my show program.

In 2006, a marvellous opportunity presented itself, and Tabatha’s Autumn Rustle made the long trip “north to Canada” from Ohio. I want to thank Carol Heidl for making Rustle available and for being a good friend and such an enthusiastic part of our cheering section these past few years as Rustle’s show career has unfolded. In April, 2009, Tabatha’s Wink and Tabatha’s Biscuit came home from the Potomac Labrador Specialty with Rustle and me, and these three beautiful dogs are the foundation of my kennel.

Thank you for visiting my website and viewing my dogs. Breeding inquiries are welcome.
